Keto Shimizu is an American television writer, producer, and comic book writer.

Her father was Japanese-born historian and professor Yoshiaki Shimizu, who moved to the U.S. in 1953. Her mother Patricia is American, and is mostly of English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, German, Dutch, and distant Norwegian, descent, including Colonial American ancestry.

Keto is married to development executive and writer Chris Lastrapes, with whom she has two children.

Keto’s maternal grandfather was Robert John Cuyler (the son of Robert Frederick Cuyler and Marie Sharkey). Keto’s grandfather Robert was born in Michigan. Keto’s great-grandfather Robert was born in New York, the son of Frederick J. Cuyler and Harriett N. Phelps. Marie was born in Michigan, the daughter of John Sharkey and Sarah Banning, both of whom were the children of Irish parents.

Keto’s maternal grandmother was Carolyn Lee Cook (the daughter of Theophilus Parvin Cook and Olivia Hazel White). Carolyn was born in California. Theophilus was born in Indiana, the son of Benjamin Harvey Cook and Laura E. Cooper. Olivia was born in Missouri, the daughter of Oliver Hadley White and Laura Ellen Smiley, who was of part Scottish descent.
